The newest idea in sports bars is “Play 2”. Located in the Parx Casino near Philadelphia, this Interactive sports bar and crab house features video game cells where customers test their skills at “Guitar Hero”, or sporting events like golf, baseball, bowling, darts, and on. A sparkling curving glass staircase invites customers up to the second deck game cells designed for parties of one to eight. Customers can also compete with other customers in neighboring games cells or join league competitions from around the world.
The 10,000 SF two story space is dominated by a large curvilinear bar featuring an LED lit wall of glass (30’ long, 16’ high) with more than 20 flat screen TV’s. LED light sources are programmed to a controller that allows the background colors to be selected to match the TV screen images. Columns are wrapped in millwork with portals of LED light that also change allowing the ambience to be controlled. Lounge areas are defined by upholstered built-in banquettes and moveable ottomans allow guests the flexibility to sit together in groups or move from one to another. The bathroom facilities provide a vibrant and colorful tiled uni-sex wash area where 55 gallon drums have been restored and converted into sinks. A circular stage doubles as a studio set for local and national televised sports programming.
