The new and restored Whitman Diner located in Williamstown, NJ also features a lounge addition that was designed in harmony with the original. The original diner, perfectly restored, is an authentic stainless steel diner reflecting the era of the early automobile and early days of train and plane travel. Polished to a mirror finish and highlighted with red, blue and white neon lighting, the diner shimmers with pride of the days of American innovation and the idea of limitless travel.
The design for the new lounge addition intends to reflect our modern day interpretation of the “diner” car. The façade which opens up completely with moving glass panels allow patrons full access to the terrace and passersby full exposure to the bar and lounge interior. Colors and finishes blend in harmony from the old to the new. Curvilinear shapes from the egg shaped windows to the curving bar and lounge platforms evoke a current sense of the future of travel.
Iridescent glass filled, egg shaped ceiling features glow in changing colors depending on your viewing angle. Floating lit globes dangle below as if floating in space. |
